March 27-29th, 2015 at the Florence Filberg Centre in Courtenay on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
Set in the context of Slow Fashion, the Pieces event starts with information on some of the Origin Textiles of Vancouver Island. Then “womanly arts” are explored with reference to the misplaced relegation of art and artisan work by women into the ‘diminutive’. Pieces, continues with interactive discussions of global/local sourcing, social enterprise, and textile waste.
Pieces offers resources on how to reuse, re-purpose, repair and even grow your own textiles. See how traditional and contemporary pieces are resurrected with a new twist and a modern edge. Pieces wraps up with thoughts on Cloth, Memories and Mourning.
